I. Who is Jeffrey Toobin?

Jeffrey Toobin is an American lawyer, author, and legal analyst for CNN. He was born on May 21, 1960, in New York City, and graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. Toobin began his career as an Assistant United States Attorney in Brooklyn before becoming a staff writer at The New Yorker in 1993.

Toobin is perhaps best known for his coverage of legal issues, including the O.J. Simpson trial, the Clinton impeachment, and the Supreme Court. He has written several books, including “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson” and “The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court.” Toobin has also been a legal analyst for ABC News and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The New Republic.

In October 2020, Toobin was suspended from The New Yorker and took a leave of absence from CNN after he was caught masturbating during a Zoom call with colleagues. He later apologized for his behavior and said it was “stupid” and “embarrassing.”

II. Jeffrey Toobin Zoom Video Clip

In October 2020, Jeffrey Toobin, a prominent legal analyst for CNN and staff writer for The New Yorker, was suspended from his job at The New Yorker after he was caught masturbating during a Zoom video call with his colleagues.

The incident took place during a break in an election simulation exercise organized by The New Yorker and WNYC radio. During the break, Toobin switched to a different Zoom call and allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in front of his colleagues. Some participants on the call were reportedly shaken and disturbed by the incident.

After news of the incident broke, Toobin was suspended from The New Yorker pending an investigation. He also took a leave of absence from CNN, where he had been a legal analyst since 2002. Toobin later apologized for his behavior, calling it “embarrassingly stupid” and saying that he thought he had turned off his camera and microphone during the call.

Toobin’s behavior was widely criticized, with many commentators noting the inappropriate and unprofessional nature of his actions. Some also noted the irony of the incident, given Toobin’s previous coverage of the Monica Lewinsky scandal and other high-profile cases involving sexual misconduct.

Despite the controversy, Toobin continued to work at CNN following his leave of absence, although his role on the network was scaled back. The New Yorker ultimately fired Toobin in November 2020, citing his “serious lapses in judgment.”

IV. New Yorker Suspends Jeffrey Toobin

Following Jeffrey Toobin’s inappropriate behavior during a Zoom call, a spokesperson for The New Yorker, Natalie Raabe, announced that Toobin had been suspended while they conducted an investigation into the matter. In addition, Toobin’s email at Conde Nast was disabled, and he has not tweeted since October 13.

Despite this, Toobin appeared on CNN, where he works as the network’s chief legal analyst, on Saturday. CNN released a statement saying that Toobin had asked for some time off to deal with a personal issue, which they had granted.

In an email to all New Yorker staff, editor David Remnick assured them that the matter was being taken seriously and that they were looking into it. Meanwhile, a source told Motherboard that WNYC had informed its staff that Toobin could no longer be booked on its shows or work with WNYC in any other professional capacity.

Attempts to contact Toobin’s publisher, Doubleday, and his literary agent, Kristine Dahl, as well as Greater Talent Network, which represents Toobin, were unsuccessful. WNYC declined to comment on the matter.
